Insegnante, giornalista e scrittore, Luca Antoccia nasce a Roma nel 1961. Dopo la tesi di laurea in Storia del cinema, approda presto al giornalismo cinematografico su varie testate (Filmcritica, Cinema nuovo, Films and Filming, Anterem, L’illustrazione italiana). Nel 1994 pubblica con Dedalo il libro Il viaggio nel cinema di Wim Wenders, prima opera saggistica in Italia sul regista tedesco. Scrive la parte cinematografica dei volumi Leonardo da Vinci (Giunti, 2000) e Storia del Lazio rurale, (Regione Lazio, 2005). Per Gaffi nel 2006 manda in libreria un volume sul precariato nella scuola in cui pubblica, insieme a quelli di altri, il primo racconto. Come insegnante cura la parte didattica dell’edizione scolastica del libro di Aldo Forbice I signori della morte (Pagine, 2003), e pubblica vari saggi sulla rivista di didattica Avanguardia. Si dedica da tempo all’approfondimento dei nessi tra le arti: cura da quindici anni su Art e dossier la rubrica “Cinema e pittura”. Dodici tracce, dedicato all’influenza della musica e della voce sulla scrittura, è il suo primo libro di racconti.
